OUTLETS, DIMMERS, AND BREAKERS

Outlets

Overloading your circuit is not only frustrating, it is extremely dangerous as well. People are unaware of how much stress they are putting on outlets as they plug in appliances and electronics. If an outlet does overload, a component can overheat and cause a fire – 40,000 a year in the united state alone. Our electricians can install, repair, diagnose any issue you may have with an overload and bring the best solution at your door.

Dimmers

Dimmer switches work by reducing the amount of current that flows into your light bulbs and they considered energy savings – While the total energy saved depends on how much you dim the lights, how long they are dimmed, and which types of bulbs you choose, dimmers are also a great way to control the vibe of a room whether you want to watch a movie in the family room or host a dinner in the dining room, dimmer switches can enhance the atmosphere and set the mood. They will make light bulbs last longer – the softer the light, the longer the bulb lasts. You can add between three and four years to a bulb’s life with proper dimming.

Breakers

Breakers are safety devices designed to protect your homes wiring and the electrical devices (appliances, electronics, etc…) that are plugged into the circuits. Circuit breakers that are not properly maintained will not be able to protect your home from a power surge and can also develop a severe risk of arcing or faulting.

This can result in heat and sparks that can cause fatal electric shocks or electrical fires!

You should call our licensed (Greene County LIC # 532) electrician at AVE Electric when:

  • Your circuit breaker trips constantly, even after being reset
  • The circuit breaker is hot to the touch
  • You can smell burning from the breaker panel
  • You can see visible damage, such as burned metal or frayed wires
  • You can hear buzzing, hissing, or popping noises from the breakers

Never ignore a tripping breaker. If it is tripping, there is a reason. If a breaker trips again, immediately after resetting, this is a good indication that there is a short in the circuit and it should be evaluated as soon as possible.
